As Technology races on in the domain of Information & Communication it becomes essential to have this subject as an indispensable part of the curriculum.
Alsyd Academy in its turn has put in place the necessary infrastructure to facilitate a good foundation to build on. The school has a well equipped and modern Computer Lab. Teachers have notebooks to use for research and preparation of notes, likewise students have access to net books and Interactive Whiteboards. Wireless internet access is available all over the compound.
We start with regular ICT lessons from Kindergarten 2. Here the focus is on getting familiar with the basic computer hardware and introduction to information tools. Practically, we reinforce mouse and keyboarding skills through play. The primary section starts with typing speed development and an introduction to Microsoft Windows (desktop, paint, word, excel). At the Junior High level the knowledge about MS Office – with focus on Word and Excel – is deepened and gathering information on the internet becomes an important issue.
Students can access the internet in the school’s library any time for academic purposes.
